It has been a tradition of ICMs to have a series of satellite conferences to be held before or after the main congress. We are pleased to report here that a number of satellite conferences of ICM2002 have been in planning.

Although satellite conferences are usually organized independently, they form as a whole an organic part of ICM. In order to coordinate the organization of satellite conferences of ICM2002, a Coordinate Committee of Satellite Conferences under the Organizing Committee of ICM2002 has been appointed. The committee welcomes every effort to organize satellite conferences of ICM2002 to be held in different parts of China as well as our neighboring countries and areas. We shall appreciate being informed of intention and plan of organizing a satellite conference.
